Guonian Wang(王国念)
Mr. Bobby Wang was born in 1978 as a native of Suizhou, Hubei Province. He earned his Bachelor’s degree (1997-2001) and Master’s degree (2004-2006) at the School of Foreign Languages, China University of Geosciences (CUG) at Wuhan. He was admitted to Wuhan University in 2011 as a PhD candidate of applied linguistics and graduated in 2017.
Since Dec. 2013, he has been working as associate professor and graduate supervisor. His research interests include translation, phonetics, culture, and nation studies. These areas have seen his publications of nearly 20 papers (of which some are indexed by EI or IEEE), a translated work “Psychology for Football” (The Official FA Guide to Psychology for Football, 2006), and a co-authored book “An Introduction to Applied Linguistics.” He has also played a role in several research projects (national, provincial and college levels) as director or team worker.
Mr. Wang has enjoyed the membership of several associations of translation (2002-), linguistics (2014-), and cross-cultural communication (2016-). He was among the award winners of CUG teaching competition (2010), CUG’s Most Popular Teachers (2011), CUG’s Top Ten Class Supervisors (2014), CUG’s Model Union Workers (2015-2018), and CUG’s Outstanding CP Members (2018), etc.
The MOOC “English Phonetics” he lectured as the leading teacher has welcomed a total of over 100,000 registered learners nationwide during the first 3 semesters, and enjoys widespread popularity.
